i-Juander TV Segment | Behind the Scenes

04.12.2013 – GMA Network’s i-Juander news team invited some of the members of Toy Photography last April 6th for a short feature about the hobby and how its different from the other ways photography is being used.

The short segment was shot in the Malate in Metro Manila area as most places don’t need a permit for the video segment, which features four of the members of the community representing Toy Photography revealing behind the scenes how the segment was put together that was aired a few days ago GMA 7.

Most of the reactions of the viewers and followers of the community said the segment was cut short this is due to the other segments related to photography. The less than two minute feature shows how this hobby has become popular to toy collectors and casual photographers.

This featured Vince Nunez a local blogger maintaining the site LENS Blogs, Chris Diones and Scher Padilla better known to her followers as Love, PinkCheeks with yours truly who supposed to be just there to help the members, but some of the administrators did not make it to the scheduled shoot as I have to take over to represent the team to round up the roster.

The active members well known for their toys are Chris Diones and Scher Padilla who have gained followers also for the concept they use for their craft. Padilla who has been in the community when the group started to gain followers has focused on Japanese ‘kawaii’ or cute characters like Doraemon or some characters from Nendroids, while Diones has used some of his subjects also from cult following characters from Japanese anime series.

Vince Nunez, who rarely share is compositions at the community use some of the characters he grew up with from G.I. Joe to Playmobil whenever he has the chance to capture them outdoors with his smartphone or his digital camera.

The i-Juander team was accommodating enough to give us the freedom to take photos around Manila as the city doesn’t have strict policy about taking video segments for their show as originally planned was in Makati City as the very first feature for the community two years ago was shot at the Ayala Triangle Gardens.

But due to Makati City’s strict policy we have to move it to Metro Manila somewhere in the Malate area. Bonifacio Global City was also an option for the shoot, but we’re unaware of their policy at last minute that they’re not particular unlike the Central Business District. The weather was good as well when the video segment was shot in the mid-afternoon that was quite humid towards the end of the day.

Overall the segment was unexpectedly short, but the amount of time GMA Network’s i-Juandaer team was there to shoot for the segment was longer that was unexpected. It was one of the rare exposures featuring Toy Photography in national TV. The acknowledgement goes to GMA Network’s i-Juander for the opportunity.
