The Joker Tribute | Ten Best Smiles

The Joker is as iconic villain as the hero in Batman and with the movie making a hit at the box office there’s no doubt this character is going to be popular. With that in mind some of the members of this community have contributed their take on the character. Evidently, the list is small but their perspective is given the spotlight for that smile!

For this tribute ten perspectives of Joker is in the spotlight for this one-time feature and you can imagine how the selection was weed out from what was supposed to be part of the Halloween theme. But that selection has a separate group of individuals and for this one is a bit of a quick list.

The featured Toy Photographers who contributed for this Joke theme followed with an individual description on their depiction of the character. The credit of course goes to the list of individuals listed below:

Frederick Abeyaratne
Brendan Crates
Ernest Selva
Steve Trimble
Michael Robbins
Simon Sweetman
Daneil Garcia
Ahdi Respati
Carlo Jonathan Linao
Sean James Escobia

This Joker upclose shows the details of how menacing the character can be through the eyes of Frederick Abeyaratne and with that blur effect it gives you the feel of abuse from a madman that would define what the experience of being a victim of this glorious individual.

For Brendan Crates version of how Joker imitates Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal must be pure joy in trying to bring that perspective in toy form. The challenge there is how flexible is the figure can take or it uses visual effects to make that happen? But for Brendan it is his secret recipe to making it look realistic.

The fear of laughter as a concept by Ernest Silva makes you feel the shiver on that face that the Joker invokes. It certainly is that signature look of the character as he walks on the path destruction that he will bring in Gotham is a stunner shot right there that makes this image a part of the list.

Steve Trimble’s simple use of backdrop using this figure works the way how he sees that innocent smile that hides the terror in this character. Another Joker imitating the film’s stair scene, but with that retro style that gives this ‘Crime Prince of Crime’ that cartoonish appeal at the same time that classic comicbook Jerry Robinson creation certainly gives tribute to the character.

Taking a page on Heath Ledger’s version and putting it into the eyes of Michael Robbins certainly ask you “Why so Serious?” as that mysterious interpretation from the Dark Knight Trilogy of films is still a cult classic from all the Jokers out there as considered the ‘modern Joker’ from this generation that will forever a favorite for some Bat-Fans out there.

That joyous smile in Simon Sweetman’s take on this comicbook fellow is such colourful basis from the Neal Adam’s revival of the character from the early 1970s taking Joker back to its original roots as it is channelled in this composition is definitely one Sweet Man, no pun intended of course.

Jack Nicholson’s take on the Joker has its own dark origins and as the use of this Hot Toys by Daniel Garcia is something to be included in the list. It’s that haunting smile that makes this figure quite the chilling one and it certainly did give shivers alright.

Ahdi Respti’s violently and rebellious Joker is ready for war as his rifle raised ready to take on Gotham is definitely one of the depictions of how Joker is all out just wanting to see the world burn quite definitive on this simple take that sends a message that no matter what you do the Joker can’t be bargained with or to be contained.

Another Heath Ledger Joker on the list is ready to show its deadly cards by Carlo Jonathan Linao, one of the consistent toy photographers in the community. Although he is known for using Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series, he is versatile in capturing this character in the way it’s his usual subjects and he killed it.

Rounding up the list is Sean James Escobia’s take on the Joker. Although it is far from a distance clearly says chaos is not behind. The Joker lights a different perspective in the dark as the way Batman strikes fear, but with this character it is relentless chaos that is defined through Sean’s perspective.

There are great toy photographers who can put Joker as one of the subjects that can make in this list, but these individuals had good timing in their hands to share their versions of what the character in their eyes. And there you have it completing the list just before the end of October 2019 paying tribute to the film and the character.

Batman may celebrate 80 years, but without Joker the character probably won’t endure thanks to Jerry Robinson, Bill Finger and Bob Kane in creating the character with such portrayals in animation, film, and videogames.
