Best TEN Picks | November 2017

What is a good composition? Is it about the subject? Or does it have to do with the background? These questions linger to some who tries so hard to be perfect with all aspect of photography. But for some few who just want to capture the best for their subject it’s like having just the right ingredients to produce one image in a story.

You don’t need to be perfect just the right perspective to produce a good picture to tell a story is enough for everyone guessing what’s next. The November ten picks where a challenge as most who submitted their works where not telling much but aesthetics.

Yes, Toy Photography is all about aesthetics and we can agree it’s another excuse for some to share their toy collections not about telling stories about them. Some might not agree with this and would misconstrued or misinterpret what we’re trying to tell in our little space in the internet sphere. But we’re not telling you what you want to do it’s a free for all do-what-you-want to think about Toy Photography, it’s your own take and we won’t stop you from doing it.

But we’ve been here long enough to cultivate story tellers those who want to share their passion for a good narrative through the images they’ve submitted in the community pool at our FB Group. Their tireless effort in producing good images that doesn’t need no captions or multiple images to tell a #1ShotStory concept is more challengingly complex that they deserve recognition.

For those who does it with discipline and consistent is a bold statement, which some of them have been fortunate that their work was chosen not because of the fancy characters as their subject its how they execute and produce a good story. What makes them stand out is not the toys, but how they blend all elements of producing good Toy Photography regardless if they used a camera phone or an expensive DSLR its also about having fun with the characters putting them in a different perspective and here are those Best Ten Picks for November 2017.

Rohaidi LoCase has focused on two types of toys for this photography. It’s either two Stormtroopers put in predicament or Spider-Man swinging at you ready to burst into the confines of his frames. But for this month it all about the Troopers lost in a diner trying to decide what they’ll have for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Antoine Dole has enough Nendroid Stories with his simple diorama and balance of photoshop with good natured characters. Its challenging to stick to one character, but it gets you noticed if you keep shooting the same one until it becomes your signature just ask Sheng Gonzales of Kix Kill Radio, she’s the trailblazer with using the same characters and Antoine can be the next guy.

Carlos Jonathan Linao has a few good photos submitted in the group often bending the rules. It’s obvious he’s good with the lens and rendering his composition. We picked this one because it stands out from the multiple angles and scenes of the same toys. Let’s hope he takes this feedback as a learning experience that to produce a good composition you only need one. Like THIS ONE.

Genasky Gerome de Roma most of his compositions have not live background. But when he posted this composition it does tell a story in one shot. Sometimes backgrounds are a distraction to the element, but not all the time and why this one has to pick from the others? Its simple he told a #1SHOTSTORY period.

Michael David has mixed bag of compositions but he’s getting there. His style is mixed with practical effects and minimal renders. For this one that stood out there’s a natural perspective on how he produced it we’re still impressed. The story is there a running Barry Allen not in costume just simply cool.

Alvin Inocencio has his works featured a few months back. The subjects he uses are from Superheroes to Pokemon trainers. He doesn’t need captions just a good perspective of the characters particularly Deadpool with that look. Good shot.

Mark Gatus is one of the consistent community members who churn up good compositions. It’s either a zombie seated on a train or this guy. Of course there’s nothing spectacular happening in this composition its just that the character fits in the natural background a rarity these days and it tells this guy is in deep thought or so if we’re mistaken. But it’s all good that Mark mix it up with real background and diorama style that makes him a good toy shooter.

Eddy Helmi is all about action that most of the subjects he uses in his compositions are from the movies he have seen mimicking their movement and capturing them in his own way. There have been a lot of Marvel adoration for Eddy and he’s done a lot of great photos like everyone he’s good with his concepts. This one was enough to bring us back to Civil War and why not?

Sam Chan continues to evolve in his photography from outdoors to indoors and back. Now his diorama shots have good colors in them and a simple perspective. Spider-Man sitting there might give you a thought that he’s brooding or just in deep thought. That’s how a good #1ShotStory right there making you want to think what the story about this character is and this is one of the best for the month of November.

Wayne Faucher has a lot of photos but all of them don’t tell stories. They’re good images but rarely tell a story. This one was interesting enough to round out the Best Ten Picks for November 2017, because there’s a story in there without the need to put a caption on it. Wayne must have some old gems there in his hard drive that we haven’t seen and this one was his best so far.

ELEVENTH Mentioned

Mikko Raima is new to the community clearly we rarely add another one so this might be the first for him. His subtle narrative in his composition can’t be ignored that he made it. This might be a preview of the Holidays and so far something to look forward to next month. Well done.

Good on Yeah! Congrats to the TEN Best Picks for November 2017 and there’s more where that came from. Those awesome photos certainly Bringing Toys to Life™ and sharing their #1ShotStory until next month!
