#1ShotsVDay | For the Love of Toys

Valentine’s Day is the season of adoration and for most it is the day people appreciate the love especially on the fourteenth of the month. Toy Photography themes usually include this as a challenge to create their reinterpretation for the month that shows affection in the best possible way and it is interesting how those who have the grasp in bringing toys to life gives you this bit of perspective.

For those who have been a toy photographer they’ve mostly have the idea on in bringing emotion to action figures or toys that are inanimate objects. But toys nowadays are expressive although that depends on the characters and product that’s being put out there it.

Some even comes with extra accessories like replaceable faces that is based on the character from an animation, movie or even in videogames. The toys nowadays are sophisticated, complex, and downright emotional based on their personalities. There are still the ‘old school’ ones that caries only one facial expression.

Of course, there are also robots that are entirely cold, calculated, and was made the way they are. And then there are those toys that have simple facial expressions regardless if it’s a licensed character based on popular intellectual properties.

But Love has only one default setting is showing the expression of appreciation and sometimes humor that is unforgettable. For the month of February 2020 the monthly theme has something to do with the month as well as Valentine’s Day so here are some of the best Toy Photography captured showing some affection.

Some ‘Elephant Love’ that could not be forgotten is what Ang Cheng “Sunny” Ang has brought to the community that surely define “sharing the love” with a bit of humor that became the community’s cover of the month featured in the FB group page. Sunny is top notch legend showing some humor with the heart, literally.

Marlo Demo-os does bring some 1990s nostalgia with the X-Men cartoon featuring the leader of the Blue Team and the Second-in-Command of the Gold Team. The original X-Mean Love Team of Cyclops and Jean Grey, in this sunset vibe on a bike setting that shows some classic romance captured all in its Marvelous Glory.

If you have watched the third installment of “How to Train Your Dragon” then you must have caught up with the little romance with Toothless and the Light Fury. Kate Anderson who has been active in the community shares this two adorable Funko Pop figurines in the snow is a match made in winter wonderland.

Linda Kilcher Dixon shares her composition straight to the point without the background scenery and all it takes is subtle set up by a vertically challenged LEGO Stormtrooper to express his affection to a wide eyed doll.

Sometimes expressing adoration just need to be seen in words, and there are actually Hot Wheels themed cars that is produced for Valentine’s Day and Alexander Gabriel isn’t just putting it out there he adds some micro figures to give you a setting that shows there’s always love in the streets beside your wheels.

David Gilliver is consistent with his stories and one of the regular Star Wars guys in the community. But with this brand of humor certainly is a good laugh that shows they may not able to shoot straight. Most certainly, they really got their love straight up bullseye in the perspective of the empire.

In some Fantasy perspective coupled with the inspiration from Titanic John Emerson D Nuiqi captures all that love while riding on a Dewback as the sun set. Though he may have posted a different color palette this ‘Side B’ shot looks appropriate enough to be included in this theme month.

Rarely, there would be a G.I. Joe fan in the community that use these figures. But most certainly George Amurao is one of those fans that know some of the characters back story in the comicbooks like Snake-Eyes and Scarlett. In this composition George certainly captures the human side of the famed Commando and his crossbow shooting martial arts expert partner.

When you mention the word “Disney” it is synonymous with Mickey and sometimes Minnie Mouse. Of course, it is given they are romantically together and Funko even produced their Pop figurines with this theme showing some love. It is already given that these figures are easy subjects all you need is the location, background, and lighting to set the tone as what Charlie Ng has shared.

Note Tanapat is a regular in the community and have some of his photos featured previously. It is one of those simple compositions without the need of some flair when capturing the little appreciations of LEGO Minifigures making it to this month’s theme as some of the most expressive.

There are two versions to Andrew Cabalde’s composition featuring Arsene Lupin III and Fujiko Mine seeing a ship sailing off while either on a scooter or seated together on the Fiat 500. Andrew couldn’t make up his mind, but if you’re a fan taking the scene seated on top of the Fiat 500 would be iconic and this is how he did it.

Terry Bussey rarely post in the community, but when he does it is not made of special effects. He practically built the diorama in LEGO featuring two senior citizens on a theme park ride spending time together on a fine Valentine’s Day capturing the moment with appreciation to that special day in this set up.

In the community there are into Star Wars and Marvel, but in this community you’ll find Alan Lilley who uses Minimates as his subject. Sometimes he customize them and this figure featuring St. Valentine is one character that is rarely acknowledged how this special day became part of everyone’s culture.

Jerry Rodriguez is familiar to the community who occasionally uses Marvel Legends as his subjects to his composition. He usually gets to feature Deadpool and just like that this version of the figure shows some pants-less romance floating in the thick of the night expressing his Valentine.

Lastly, rounding up those who contributed for the month of February 2020 theme is Paul Massey. Toy Story fans knows Buzz and Jessie has some romance going on that was revealed on the third animated film. This is where you think Buzz is set on a Spanish default that gives you that humorous vibe.

Finally, it is March and it is almost summer season in Southeast Asia so that means the theme for this month has something to do with this season. There’s more happening for the next few months we hope you get inspired from these passionate individuals until next month!
