Behind the Lens | The Unlikeliest Places

When you’re a Toy Photographer chances are you carry a few toys in your bag and most definitely on the go. Because at the end of the day you’re basically a shutterbug that has ideas running in your head when you walk in the streets thinking of so many ideas in a speed of thought that sometimes finding a good spot in some unlikeliest place case in point it could where nobody’s looking.

Probably it must be somewhere that you get that light bulb effect and suddenly an idea comes to mind and then viola you got that visual already playing it out like a scene that you never have been before.

Of course, the idea won’t happen if you have the necessary toys to be the one important tool in that One Picture Narrative. It can happen to anyone who constantly running ideas while on the go and not glued to your mobile phone, obviously.

This happened, one fine late Tuesday afternoon just inside one of the major shopping centers in Metro Manila. It’s actually close to about the time they are about to close up shop while walking in some part near the exit this where you find a DCEU likeness of The Flash and this life-size figurine based from the Justice League film was standing there all of his lonesome. The next thing you usually look when you see this figurine is where it’s standing and then you suddenly get the light bulb effect in your head as fast as the fastest man alive no pun intended. It could be a rare thing for those who are Toy Photographers on the go, but it is something probably few would have the same experience looking for a good spot to have a decent toy shoot.

But it is obvious you’ll be surprised that this is sort of more of improvisation of an immediate idea without the need to set up. The lighting itself was just fine and the surface is what caught the attention to become the immediate background for an instant narrative that can’t be passed up.

It is certainly exhilarating to find that there’s something out there if you just walk and suddenly it hits you. But of course you also have to be mindful of the locals that pass by, but given the right timing that only a few people wherein the area the opportunity presents itself to get that right shot of a single narrative to give your story with this immediate perspective that certainly bringing your toys to life is not just about the toys. But you find a meaningful idea to put together a story you never thought happened, which certainly was a fun way to a product that image.

Overall fun and at the same time was quite a learning experience that sometimes you can find a good spot in places people don’t notice that Toy Photographers do and that’s the beauty of it without the need to visualize a scene from a movie. But finding a good visual narrative, that you can produce it through your thoughts and imagination.
