Best TEN Picks | September 2019

There have been so many submissions for September 2019 it took a while to choose the very best of the best. Everyone has done great with their compositions and taking it to the next level and with Best Ten that stood out for this month.

With that there’s no limit for the best and brightest because everyone deserves to be featured and it is appreciative for making Toy Photography not just this community, but those who has broken the mold and make the their passion into living their dreams working with companies that find this form media something everyone can enjoy.

For this community it’s just a small operation having founded as a “fun page” more than a decade ago from another former social media page that was just something thrown around as an experimental idea without the limitation to cater only for its original birth country. Toy Photography is about for everyone and that idea still holds true and everyone is free define what this art form can benefit to their hobby.

It is about which country you represent it is about sharing your perspective and in the past years this community has focused on story driven ideas through the form of one image that has elements and parts of what Toy Photography can be defined to form the overall narrative, which leaves others to define them in their imagination. For some no one would understand that concept unless you share it.

Every month the context and idea of what a “One-Shot Story” narrative leaves up to the Toy Photographer how they let it define those who will see it. At the same time inspire another group of people to try their hand in making that story.

For September 2019 it is a long process of choosing the best and you can’t say who and which is the better than the other. Everyone’s composition truly tells a story and then there’s those let you imagine and interpret them and here are those images…

Zankhan Chhaya’s rare post in the community is not going to be overlooked for its image without context. It is taken in vast land with a VW Type 2 van is one of the rare subjects used for this composition is something a rarity and something for those who are minimalist can attest that you can tell a story using vehicles too.

For those who are into mechanoids, there’s that challenge in putting them in a greater narrative, which is one of Kym Menyez images that doesn’t give enough back story. But it leaves you to your own conclusion what the EVA unit is going to do next is all up to your figment of thought with this simple diorama.

The great outdoors are one of the best places to use a venue for an adventure. If you’re into LEGO minifigures there’s a sprawling landscape that truly gives you that vibe of “fun” in this case Kurtis Hoyle had to give you that perspective of a Stormtrooper frolicking in the vast greenery on a sunny day.

Billy York Francisco has a similar idea of outdoor scenery as some toys really works with this type of environment in the case of Marvel Legends Black Panther if executed properly this leaves you what type of life Wakanda is on a late afternoon delight that gives this action figure a life like adventure.

When dinosaurs roam the Earth it surely spectacular interpretation in toy form from Dario Orlando. The simple image which is another ‘picture without context’ gives this Tyrannosaurus Rex its very own adventure from the mind of Orlando quite a minimalist without a proper story just a creature in its natural habitat.

Marlo Demo-os has been in this community for so long you’ll hardly notice his concepts are very much in detail. If you’re a comicbook fan and inspired to put that idea to reality then you’ll find the means to do so with this intricate look of an indoor set up is quite impressive. There are far better images out there, but Marlo hits this one out of the ballpark with this action moment frozen in photography.

To those who have grown up watching Pokemon surely you have been mesmerized by Jigglypuff cuteness. Wilbur Northrup has executed this perspective that harkens back to that animated sequence where the creature picks up a microphone and serenaded the other characters to sleep with a smile.

Ian Eng’s main subjects are vehicles similar to Zankhan Chhaya’s composition. But for Ian there’s that scooter either it was owned by Deadpool or was from an unknown individual that was left in the woods it gives you that emotional vibe that it was unloved. But that ideal narrative is up to everyone’s perspective or it just ran out of gas somewhere in the wilderness.

For Adam Malanka there’s that ‘image without context’ perspective of a wild deer in the jungle. It might be springtime in some country out there or the autumn feels are about to turn into winter. But that ideal story is up to you as this one clearly stood out without any fanfare just the sight of natural greenery makes this photo look so real.

The last bit of selection is always a good story and Ang Cheng Ann knows how to give you a good laugh at the same time gives you a direct point. It’s also about pet owners taking care of their beloved furry animals. But owning a T-Rex is not furry but you’ll get that reference and Ang makes the list for this month.

Surely, there are special mentions for the next ten images as everyone who posted last month who shared their stories definitely impressive. There will be more featured photos just stay tuned. For now these are the images from last month that really leaves you to continue that story beyond just the toys you take photos with to sharing an image that leaves you to continue with your own narrative from your thoughts.

At the same time inspire you to pick a camera and any random toy that you want to share your own stories not just about the aesthetics of that plastic. But leaving others thinks about what that story unfolds from their imagination is what the selection from last month is all about.
