Best TEN Picks | April 2019
In this generation where everyone collects almost everything sometimes you have to find your niche, a personality that will define you. Not everyone has the funds to buy everything it is wise to pick and choose what that toy or character meant for you. This also applies on your interest in Toy Photography as most general some blur the lines of what is a storyteller and a collector.
But for most part those who want to break from the ‘norm’ and add personality to being recognized as ‘that person’ these select few shares their interest, passion, and most of all just having fun with their camera to bring about that imagination and conveying their story through the #OneShotToyStory concept and giving the viewer to fill in the blanks on what the subject is doing in this scene.
Each month there’s a collection of individuals who keeps pushing their imagination not to ‘show off’ but an expression in Bringing Toys to Life™ from their perspective as selected for the month of April 2019, where you can find the Ten Best Picks below:
Luis E. Castillo is one of the gems in the community that continues his consistent narrative through his photos without context that lets his subject speaks for itself. He’s definitely a Star Trek fan with this simple shot of the USS Enterprise entering a planetary orbit.
Rocky, Mika, n’ Fizz surely is a newcomer in the community that breaks some of the rules of the usual subject facing the camera. This Wonder Woman is figurine certainly captures the emotion in this image that is one of the subjects that let the viewers “fill in the blanks” on what she’ll do next.
Victor Buendia another new name in the list featured for this month. Without the doubt the silhouette gives you the vibe of a story there without the need for a caption. It captures the character of this figure serenading in the dark that have exploding colors in this image narrative.
Doker Meyo gives you the full color adventures of a Pokemon in its natural outdoor habitat with minimal photo editing. Certainly, the natural light and environment gives you a good look of the subject imbued with the surrounding bright and crisp colors of summer.
Tomy Zein gives us this close up of Spider-Man with the details of Marvel Legends toys have become more impressive in each release. Rarely, the discussion is more about the story than the subject. There’s nothing like the Spidey crawling in one random wall before embarking on his next adventure.
Brian H. Myers certainly takes the outdoor photography a challenging as its surroundings. There’s no distraction of a bystander when this must have been captured. This is an impressive photo defining Ant-Man and Wasp if they’re real in this world running from something? Just fill in the blanks if you must.
Sam Chan has been around and have his work featured previously using random unknown figures and adding up something off the wall like this skeleton playing an arcade game in the dark. It must be one of those days Mr. Skeleton had one of those rare discrete moments trying to beat someone’s high score or is it high scare?
Carlo Jonathan Linao has been telling his stories through the subjects he chooses, since John Wick 3: Parabellum is set to be shown sometime in May 2019 this sure hypes up what the actual movie would turn out. The combination of silhouette and palette of colors gives this an action packed shot.
Mark Gatus gives you a perspective how a pig in a sweater enjoys the autumn season since in some parts of the world it must be getting quite cold. The natural outdoor scenery makes this figurine appear like living the best life of the season.
Ben Mizuku chooses a character from the Pikmin videogame series to convey his story that shows the adventure and exploration not on its world. Certainly, an inviting photo that tells you to shoot more of these types of themes and why not?
Rounding out the #TenBestPicks for the month April 2019, clearly there were A LOT of good photos for this month and there’s not enough to fit them in this set of what makes them interesting. It’s not about the use of characters or LIKE by other members of the community it is about the impact, execution why they were chosen. At the end of the day it is about how you share your story in one picture sometimes without the context and let the viewers have their imagination.
There have been other good ones to mention probably for next month. For now here are those images that stand out that we hope it will inspire you to pick a camera and choose your toy to tell your story or give them something to tell yours in their perspective for now.
