May the 4th 2020 Special | Star Wars Day

Darth Vader taken on 3 May 2018 in front of an Art installation at the South Australian Museum.
Star Wars has cultivated the best fans on the planet, which was built on the film’s mythology that was introduced in 1977. The annual May the Fourth of Star Wars Day continue to celebrate not only the franchise, but also the fans who makes it relevant through their passion whenever cosplay, art, and with this community, Toy Photography that has become part of its ever evolving culture.

For this year a collection of Star Wars themed Toy Photography has been pooled featuring those who really show their adoration for the franchise. This year also marks the fortieth anniversary of Empire Strikes Back, which was arguably the best film in the original trilogy that was shown in 1980.

Though the photos contributed by the community may not follow some of the scenes from their favorite Star Wars films, but they incorporated their own perspective in their fan fiction how these memorable characters play in their sandbox.

Here are twenty photos that where gathered from April 2020 up to 12 PM noon time (Manila Standard Time), which was originally supposed to be updated yesterday. But due to the community’s continues posts of their works these are the images collected not in order...

Matthew Musson is a Star Wars fan at the same time into LEGO and this image of Imperial troopers of various iteration is ready to go to war against the rebellion was eye catching and definitely impressive.

Phasma showing up with the First Order in this diorama shot by Sam Chan is crisp and clear with the right lighting and mood you got yourself facing the most diabolical foot solider ever assembled.

Dario Orlando’s perspective of Rey running in the jungles of Takodana is like taken from Force Awaken, but with his perspective reinterpretation of the character escaping in the woods as the First Order attacks the planet.

The reimagining the scene from Star Wars: A New Hope, where Luke was asked to find droids that would serve the Lars homestead with this image by Arkanzeroth Valandil. It just shows you the silhouette of the character provided enough of the mood that defines this scene.

B. David Delene’s humorous take on the two scout troopers takes you back to the last two episodes of The Mandalorian, where these two faceless characters argue about how to go about dealing with ‘The Child” in the image instead of riding a speeder bike literal Earth scooters where used in this scene.

K2SO is a popular character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but in a Toy Photographer’s eyes this former Imperial droid takes a new personality depicted in still life image just like Chris Rose depiction find its way from being lost in the woods that is invitingly expressive.

Halie Santos-Dayo is new to the community and taking her First Order Stormtrooper and reimagined it as a different character dealing with real life consequences like in isolation sure gives you that relatable feels.

Another fan fiction take of Star Wars crossing over with another franchise like the Aliens will certainly give you a lot of fresh stories just like Weston Wilkerson sharing of this image of how Stormtroopers would deal with this unknown threat.

Ang Cheng “Sunny” Ang is well known in these parts for his humorous take on the toy subjects he uses in blending a good narrative with plenty of laughs. Just like this take of a Biker Scout Trooper interacting with Disney Pixar’s Cars favorite tow truck!

Rarely, Trevor Hawkins shares his most recent composition. This one is timely due to the end of Star Wars: Clone Wars as he pays tribute to some of the characters in his own perspective with this image.

Brian De Lore is one of the active Star Wars fans in the community aside from his take on Marvel characters and other toys used from his collections it never stops him from producing this image of The Mandolorian characters in action.

A depiction of an unknown character unrelated to Star Wars can be bold in showing some fresh ideas just like this one by Seb Siglufjördur Monchal that looks ahead of the horizon with a smile.

Saravanan Kumar did share his Star Wars Day tribute to the community as the image depicted was shot at night from his balcony featuring Boba Fett, which is uncharacteristically flying in the skyline of an Earth city.

Rey Skywalker is now The Last Jedi as she goes off to her adventure with BB8 as the way John Emerson D. Nuqui take on the character as his tribute to Star Wars Day.

Adam Marcel has some of the best toy photos in the community and of course his take on Darth Maul shows the mood the former Sith Lord is feeling without spoiling the last episode of Clone Wars is simply riveting.

In Southeast Asia the summer feels of being in Quarantine from the Coronavirus Pandemic has put a toll on everyone. But Jayson Wong won’t have anything with that as he depicts a lone Stormtrooper taking a break after playing basketball in isolation.

Ji Digno another newbie to the community like everyone dealing with isolation still finds the time to celebrate Star Wars Day with these little Imperial Troopers with Darth Vader up top view Coruscant, the capital city where the Empire once Ruled.

Sometimes the characters in Star Wars are not human at all, but a reinterpretation of some of these vehicles like the AT-ST or the ‘Chicken Walker” that shows a parent teaching its child about the great outdoors by Frederick Abeyeratne.

Rajiv Pooloogaddoo like all Toy Photographers is still learning to put together a distinct narrative on his own. Bandai’s reimagined look of Star Wars characters from Feudal Japan under their Movie Realization from Tamashii Nations is one of the challenging subjects to use in outdoors, but Rajiv nails the scene in this composition.

Star Wars: Clone Wars has finally bowed out on Star Wars Day, but that doesn’t end there with Luis E. Castillo taking his composition to a whole another level. The scene of course is the main characters of the Jedi with the Republic backing of the Clone Troopers going to the thick of the action speaks volumes on the show’s popularity.

These images show how passionate Toy Photographers are in this community. The countless take of The Mandalorian is evident in most of the posts shared. But for Star Wars Day there’s a variety of storytelling in these images and these twenty photos are evident that you can take one Star Wars character and weave it into your fan fiction.

It also defines the majority of the community are into Star Wars and if you look back on the past theme related to this rarely you’ll find someone using these characters in their portfolio. But this year it has doubled or even tripled to say Star Wars continues to be relevant that it may not be through the graphic novels, animation or movies, but through the fans take created from their imagination.

Surely, the Force is strong in this community and keep on shooting. For more about the community follow on social media via Facebook or be part of the group HERE!
